The Zeughaus is Passau’s place to go for youth culture and live concerts. One one hand, the Zeughaus is the local youth centre, on the other hand, it is a platform for indie, alternative, metal and hip-hop bands.
Local musicians get their chance to perform here - but also nationally known artists perform here on a regular basis. The programme includes poetry slams, evenings for clothes exchanges, children’s theatre and workshops. In the Zeughaus, tolerance and cooperation are of great importance. Accessible and barrier-free upgrading and a LGBTQ meeting point are only some of the projects on inclusion by the open and lively youth culture.
The history behind it: The building with its striking stepped gable was built in 1425 as a storage space for different material. Special feature: This late Gothic building survived both fires in Passau without any damages.
After its role as a quarter for the Territorial Force and paramedic crews, the Zeughaus was upgraded to an activity centre in the mid-70s.
